Your journey concludes with a traditional mountainside meal and well-deserved drinks, offering a true taste of Korean hiking culture.

The perfect way to cap off your hike is with hasanju—literally “descent alcohol”—a beloved tradition in Korea’s hiking culture.

Meals include:

  • Chicken Stew: A hearty dish made with fresh chicken, mountain roots, and locally grown vegetables.
  • Vegetarian Option: Bibimbap—mixed rice and vegetables sourced from local gardens.
  • A variety of side dishes, including an assortment of kimchi and fresh vegetables.

Drinks:

  • Makgeolli: A traditional milky rice wine with a slightly sweet flavor, beloved by hikers.
  • Other options: Beer, soju, cola, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

  • Meeting Point: Meet your guide at 1:30 p.m. outside Gupabal Subway Station (Line 3/Orange Line), Exit 1.
  • Trailhead: A short bus ride will take you to the trail’s starting point.
  • The Hike:
    • Warm up with your guide before setting off.
    • Hike up an afforested valley and cross a pass with breathtaking views.
    • Visit Buddhist temples nestled in secluded mountain nooks.
    • Hear fascinating stories of history, legends, and folklore throughout the hike.
  • Post-Hike Meal: Conclude your journey with a traditional meal and drinks at a local mountainside restaurant.

  • Difficulty:
    • Duration: Approximately 6 hours.
    • Grade: Medium, with one steep ascent at the beginning. No ropes or harnesses required.
  • Suggested Items:
    • Comfortable footwear (hiking boots or sneakers recommended).
    • Weather-appropriate clothing, preferably in layers.
    • Water bottle (refill available midway through the hike).
    • Optional: Light snacks such as trail mix, peanuts, or energy bars.
