There was much buzz when this bistro version of the popular Castle Praha opened in Itaewon. And then there was the disappointment. What made Castle Praha famous was its housebrewed beer. Yet the selections at Praha Bistro taste more like Hite Stout at ten times the price. Praha seems to go with the model of making everything miserable but raise the price to make it ritzy and sophisticated. The Czech dishes are hearty, though. But stay far, far away from the non-Czech items. The service is also an issue. Management seems more concerned with people taking pictures in the restaurant than with attending to their customers. They ignored us much of the time, but as soon as I whipped out my camera, they were at my table to admonish us for taking pictures. This is another case of a western-style Korean restaurant that has promising food but makes it taste bad by figuratively smashing a cigarette butt into it.
